Unveiling the Power of Purpose: Empowering Christian Women Entrepreneurs

Vocation Venture. Calling Quest. Mission Chase. Many names, one meaning: our Pursuit of Purpose. At some point on this Life-Purpose Journey we ask ourselves the daunting question, “What on earth am I here for?” This becomes particularly pertinent when we are trying to blend our faith with our entrepreneurial spirit. Even business leaders, such as those from Harvard Business Review, recognize the importance and complexity of aligning your business and your purpose. It’s an intersection where godliness meets ambition, and it’s the heart of what we’ll explore today.

Godliness and Contentment: The Biblical View

A line in 1 Timothy 6:6 beautifully encapsulates this interplay: “Godliness with contentment is great gain” (NIV). In the New Living Translation, it states, “True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.” Similarly, the Holman Christian Standard Bible offers, “But godliness with contentment is a great gain.”
But what does this mean in the original language? ‘Godliness’ comes from the Greek word ‘eusebeia,’ which translates to actively responding to God’s work in our lives. It’s about playing our part in the divine dance. ‘Contentment,’ or ‘autarkeia,’ refers to a self-sufficiency that stems not from ourselves but from finding satisfaction in God alone.

The Purpose Pursuit: A Divine Debate?

When it comes to the concept of pursuing a ‘purpose,’ opinions vary. Critics suggest that seeking your purpose can lead to frustration or misaligned priorities. On the other hand, proponents believe that having a sense of purpose can foster fulfillment, resilience, and life satisfaction.

How do we reconcile these views? The answer lies in the cornerstone of our faith. As followers of Jesus, we seek Him first and foremost. As our relationship with Him deepens, He reveals our unique purpose over time. This doesn’t contradict our general calling to glorify God but adds a personal touch to the way we serve Him.

Your Faith-Driven Ambition in God’s Kingdom

Your purpose, manifesting as a career, a service, or a mission, is your unique way to honor God. It’s not about an exhausting chase; it’s about aligning more deeply with God’s plan for you. This is what we term your ‘Purpose Pursuit.’

Your ambition, aspiration, your zeal – they all have a place in God’s kingdom- as long as they are in obedience to a call. Whether you feel the pull to be a service-based entrepreneur, a product-based entrepreneur, an expert-based business owner, or a franchise owner, your Purpose Pursuit is another way God’s love shines through you.

Embrace your Purpose Pursuit, and trust in the journey He has planned for you.
